It is said that the locals are so ashamed of their cathedral that they point tourists to another basilica when asked where the cathedral is. It has also featured on lists of «ugliest cathedrals of France» – who knew such list existed…


True – it is architectually confusing – as a result of fires, partial reconstructions and additions from the 11th to the 20th century.


True – the central newer nave is partially off centre from the original, so it lacks that symmetrical grandeur other cathedrals often give.


However – I found it to be interesting and memorable, with a personality that tells a story of ten centuries of events and ambitions.
