Luang Prabang, Laos, 15th February 2024
Embarking on an afternoon adventure in Luang Prabang, our destination was the breathtaking Kuang Si Falls—a natural spectacle that promised both awe and excitement. It is an hour drive on some bumpy road that also gave us the impression of countryside Laotian way of living.

The short walk through the lush surroundings led us to the falls, where cascading turquoise waters unfolded before our eyes.

The vibrant hues and terraced pools created a lively atmosphere, with many visitors drawn to this remarkable site. Despite the crowd, the falls proved to be a refreshing retreat, offering an invigorating escape amid nature’s grandeur.

Back in Luang Prabang, next on our itinerary was the ascent to Phousy Hilltop, a vantage point that boasted panoramic views, but also with interesting spots along the way up.

However, the anticipation was met with bustling crowds, as fellow travelers gathered to witness the cityscape from above.

The noisy chatter and the hum of activity certainly contrasted the calmness usually associated with hilltop vistas.

Navigating through the crowd, we reached the summit, where the sight of Luang Prabang unfolded. The city, surrounded by hills and the mighty Mekong River, created a shiny rooftop mosaic against the sunset tableau.

Despite the hustle and bustle, the view offered a pretty sunset over the Mekong.
Our dinner destination for the night was a charming local Laotian restaurant, where we shared several tasty traditional dishes.
Our evening concluded on a spirited note as we settled into a local establishment on the main street to enjoy a classic: a Gin and Tonic. The twist? It was crafted with Laotian gin, infusing the iconic cocktail with a regional touch.
Tomorrow we have a leisurely day, where some of us will take advantage of the cheap massages they offer – a promise of relief to both feet and necks.
