Kyoto – (snacking) here, there and everywhere

Osaka/Kyoto, April 3rd 2026

Left Osaka in rain last evening, and just took a city walk and had some street snacks.

I really enjoyed my time in Osaka, but it was time for the next chapter; Kyoto. I arrived midday and had a short ramen lunch and lookaround before checking in.

After some temple visits (more on that in next posts) I headed a bit out of the city centre, and also found a fun beer bar and had a nice dinner.

This morning I went to the famous Nikishi market in Kyoto. As many food markets they have turned from being normal wet and dry markets the locals go to, into mostly tourist food stall oriented, but with a few original vendors still in place.

Original and local…
… dealing with fresh fish …
…as opposed to tourist food stalls.

Anyway; I had my breakfast fix with a mix of seafood from various stalls. Octopus, squid, sea urchin, scallop, river prawn and wagyu all on the menu.

Kyoto is a quite crowded but picturesque town, well-suited for the selfie culture taking over the world.

Greetings from a «selfie free» blog.
