Chiang Mai, January 7th 2026
An hour flight north og Bangkok is Chiang Mai. Influenced by Chinese and Burmese/Indian trade, this is a town with a completely different vibe than Bangkok.

The Old Town is surrounded by a moat, which regretfully did not prevent the city from being 200 years under Burmese rule.

Northern Thai food differs from the south, but their perhaps most famous dish Khao Soi was brought in by Chinese merchants

We tried that at one of the most recommended places – great taste!

There is a substantial Burmese community in Chiang Mai, with their own street food market.

Night time view of one of the main temples, early night to prepare for early morning excursion tomorrow.
