Paris – strolls in the city

Paris, July 28th 2025

Apart from the cooking, I had time to explore new parts of Paris, and also revisit some sights – in an ever changing, yet «eternal» city.

Belleville is a charming part of the city, and home to Cimetière du Père-Lachaise, a memorial and celebrity cemetery. Sat on a hill, it is a calm getaway from the city.

This cemetery is also the resting place for Jim Morrison, a highly revered singer from the famous band The Doors.

A nice bus ride away and closer to the city centre lies a botanical garden, with a famous paleontological museum.

For late lunch, I went further up the hill, close to the Sorbonne university, near this typical Parisian square.

Rounding of the stroll, I went to the Louvre, and the Latin quarter, which is charming, yet touristy.

The reconstruction of Notre Dame is nearly at an end

Once a foodie, always a foodie. I have never been to this market, which is one of the greatest markets in Paris. A lot to see, but the weight of the suitcase gives some limitations.

On Sunday, it was the last stage of Tour de france, and I went up to Montmartre to catch a glimpse of the riders. Been there, done that.

A la prochaine, Paris. See you soon again!
