Aigues-Mortes is a very special town – fully encircled by medieval walls out on the salt plains of Camargue.

One of the starting points for the last crusades, it grew in the 13th century.

Now it is a tourist town, with the rampart walk as a main attraction.

Since I have passed here by bus a couple of times I wanted an excursion today. It was hot, but very different from anything else on this trip. The view of the walls next to the pink salt lakes was something else.

Good for a day trip, but nothing more.
