Singapore, February 27th and 28th 2024
Our very last stop on this trip is Singapore, and a very different one to the other countries and cities we have visited on this journey.

Being one of the smallest and most densely populated countries of the world, this island city state has developed in another direction than its neighbors, focusing on trade, finance and tourism.

I was here in November 2019 and can see the continued development still ongoing.

For our first night, we enjoyed the light and sound show in Supertree Grove at the Gardens By the Bay. It was a spectacular show even though i have seen it once before.

For our first night we opted for a meal close to the hotel in a restaurant complex situated in an old convent.

Holding the tradition of early morning trips to catch the light at dawn, some of us headed out to Fort Canning Park, where the old fort used to be. It is an oasis in the urban jungle of this part of Singapore.

Going down the river to the lagoon, we also saw some of the original colonial buildings, now converted to government use.

For the morning expedition, we went over to Chinatown, which is a part of Singapore that has kept many of the older and smaller buildings, and has a very special atmosphere.

As the journey nears its end there is also some shopping to be done which is easy in this commercial metropolis.
