Ho Chi Minh City – the first day

Ho Chi Minh City, February 25th 2024

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is a bustling metropolis that combines tradition with modernity. It boasts a dynamic street life, with French colonial architecture lining the streets, but also energetic markets where the pulse of the city can be felt,

After calm seaside days in Hoi An this was something completely different.

We arrived early afternoon yesterday, and started our day with getting the headings from the rooftop of our hotel.

Once it became a bit cooler we went out for a first glimpse of the neighbourhood.

For dinner I had a sidewalk dining experience before ending up back at the hotel rooftop.

On Sunday morning before breakfast it was time for a new neighbourhood exploration, with just a few people out and about.

One of the most captivating districts within Ho Chi Minh City is Cholon, the city’s vibrant Chinatown. This feels like entering a different world altogether, where the atmosphere is a blend of Vietnamese and Chinese cultures.

This evening will be a relaxing one, before heading out on a full day trip tomorrow.
