Hoi An – last(ing) impressions

Hoi An, Vietnam, February 23rd 2024

This morning, I set out on an early journey into Hoi An, to absorb the town’s charm before the influx of tourists. The town unfolded a different side – quiet alleys, sleepy storefronts, and a serene atmosphere.

Some bloggers also used the early morning for a photoshoot

The locals were already busy at work at the local market, where local fish, meat and other produce were on display.

As the tailors started to set up their storefront displays I also got a look at one of their workshops, where gifted workers transforms fabrics into exquisite pieces.

Hoi An also boasts several hidden courtyards and back gardens, where you can enjoy coffee or other drinks.

At full moon, many Vietnamese have a tradition to honour and remember their deceased ancestors. One of the rituals is to burn paper money, paper clothes et cetera that their ancestors might need in the afterlife.

We had time for one last evening stroll along the riverside, and also got to take one very last round to admire the ocean seaside.

So long for now Hoi An, next stop Ho Chi Minh City – Saigon – for our last stop in Vietnam.
