Siem Reap – an evening farewell

Siem Reap, Cambodia, February 12th 2024

In the waning hours of my last evening in Siem Reap, I embarked on a small stroll through the lively streets. The vibrant street food stalls painted the night with savory aromas and colorful displays.

Amidst the bustling market, a solemn atmosphere enveloped a nearby temple. A funeral ceremony for an important person was unfolding, marked by chanting, flickering candles, and the fragrance of incense. It was a poignant reminder of the city’s spiritual depth.

The old market, with its myriad of stalls, offered handmade crafts and local artworks. The alleyways also come alive in the cool evening.

We finished the evening in a very good restaurant, the best meal saved for last.

The very last stop was for a sampling of local beers, five beers from two different breweries.

Siem Reap, with its blend of lively markets and serene temples, had left an indelible mark on my journey. With gratitude for the rich experiences, I bid a fond farewell, knowing that this farewell was not an end but a promise to return and uncover more of Siem Reap’s wonders.
