Arriving in Frankfurt in the afternoon it was an idea to check out the quarters close to my hotel.

Römerberg is a large square with majestic building, as well as the quite small Old Nicolai church.

The river Main runs through the city. As the clouds was becoming a bit threatening I decided to leave the exploration of the other bank to tomorrow.

On Römerberg, and with a nice view, it was time to taste some Frankfurter specialities. They call their loval cider Apfelwein, and with this I had «Handkäse mit musik», a brinded cheese served with raw onion. Ok to have tried once, no new favourite there…

With the clouds becoming darker I stayed quite close to the hotel for the evening, and found a shelter in another square nearby where they had booths for snacks and wine.

The weather did not stop the DJ from performing.

The weather cleared, and in the evening it became a fun street party. Lots of nice people, a good end to the first night in Frankfurt.
