First trip on the agenda today was the cathedral of Saint-Bénigne. The spire is visible from all over town, and the interior was grand but also a bit subtle.

Nearby was the Square Darcy, a small part with sculptures, a fountain and a memorial tower. A small oasis, this city has a lot of pedestrian areas, but not many green parks.

More mustard shops and tasting! Went to Maille and Edmond Fallot, numb tounge again…

Yesterday it was a bustling bric-a-brac market on this square, with it now being empty the Notre Dame and the facades of the buildings came into better view.

Somebody has watched Sound of Music a bit too many times…had to catch this dressed up trio heading into the arts museum…

Lunchtime – and Andouillette – the infamous intestine sausage. As a foreigner you are warned, I find it very good with the creamy mustard sauce and fries to go along.

For coffee I had one of the true great inventions of Fance – the café gourmand – with a little taste of everything on the dessert menu.

The hotel I am staying at also have a wine cellar with tastings so I signed up for an afternoon tasting in their beautiful vaulted basement. Fun group, enthusiastic sommelier, and interesting wines.

In the evening I went out for an evening stroll with a simple snack dinner, and also noticed several nice street art murals along the way.

In a side street from my hotel I also found this church, with the ornamented tree door in the middle of some sort of restoration.

I have a busy morning tomorrow before heading to Strasbourg – the plan is to visit the market in the early morning and then head down to Cite de la Gastronomie for a couple of their exhibitions. So I settled in quite early today.
