Last day in Beaune and with a late train for the short jump to Dijon I could spend most of the day touring rest of Beaune. Saturday is market day, and I never get tired of walking around in local markets. This market had a big outdoor area in addition.

The colour and texture of all the flowers and produce on display is really inviting.

I also had an appointment for a wine tasting at Domaine Chanson today. Several of their wines are accessible in Norway, but many of the ones in this flight was of quite small production so not fit for export. But high quality.

I also walked in areas I had not visited and found several nice monuments, buildings and squares.

For lunch I had this lovely tomato soup with fresh cheese. A good choice after having seen all the nice produce at the market earlier.

In the afternoon it was time to leave for the train station and get the very last glimpse of Beaune for this time. I will return some day.

Just 20 minutes by train north is Dijon, a much bigger city and the capital of Burgundy. On my walk from the train station to the hotel I found a huge pedestrian street area, and several nice small and big squares.

I also went past the main market, which does not open until my last day here, so. Have to schedule that for the morning excursion then. But I saw several nice looking restaurants and bars around the market building that I want to explore during the weekend.

And we are in mustard country, so this might be the only carousel in the world that feature a mustard tramway car as a choice.

I have also noticed a lot of these small brass plaques with a cute and chubby pigeon on them. I have deliberately not Googled this, as I want to leave this a mystery for myself for a couple of days…

A quite long day today, so I just settled for a small taste of patées, cured sausages and cheese at a nearby place.

As it started to drizzle and I could hear a thunderstorm coming closer I headed back to the hotel quite early. some really nice looking places for an evening drink though, will come back here.

Looking forward to the first full day in Dijon tomorrow.
