Called Bastille Day, “la Fête nationale” commemorates the day in 1789 when the infamous prison Bastille was dismantled as part of the French revolution.
It is an official holiday but still many shops and sights are open pretty much as normal. But I resisted shopping and went walking instead.

That also goes for the cellars that offers wine tasting. I did my research yesterday so today I was able to visit Patriarche cellars – see separate post = as well as doing several other tastings.
Since those consists mostly of boring photos of bottles i have just included a couple of other photos here.

A simple lunch today with Œufs au Mourette and a great French invention – Café gourmande – where you get to taste several desserts with a cup of coffee.

Celebrating both national day in France, and it being Friday, and me just wanting to, I had booked my first (and only?) Michelin star restaurant during this trip for dinner, Le Carmin.
I chose the tasting menu and had foie gras, lobster, turbot, veal, cheeses and souflée. Finished off with glass of Marc alongside the petit fours. A great meal!

Tomorrow I am going to Dijon, but hope to catch a bit more of Beaune before going north…
