Except for a tram breakdown that meant I had to walk in the heat for 15 minutes, the journey was comfortable.
Scorching hot day in Lyon, so the public bath was quite full.

My hotel is in a big but quiet pedestrian street in a newer part of Lyon. Wide and straight streets all around.

One of the world´s best hotel bars is in Lyon, so I though that would make a first evening excursion. The bar is located in a luxury hotel which occupies a former abby / monastery in Lyon.

Quite a big area for a hotel, pay attention to the sign above the church door stating this is no longer holy ground. Also, all crosses on the spires are taken off.

The bar was so hidden I had to ask at the reception, and one of the many employees followed me to the bar. It ls situated in the old main hall of one of the abby chapels, and has a fully restored ceiling 11m above the ground floor.

Truly an elegant bar, i had time for one small drink before I needed to go for dinner.

Being quite late by French standards, I managed to get a table in a restaurant street, full of both traditional and asian restaurants.

Wanting to try all the regional specialities I went for Burgundy snails followed by pike quenelle in crayfish sauce. Lyon being far from the sea mostly serves fresh water fish. Lovely and fluffy quenelle.

At the end of a long day of travel I just had energy to take a quick stroll around the main square before turning in.
